Need help picking the correct replacement mouse ball

SMB078, 7/8 inch, gray, steel core, most popular, universal in 90% of mice
SMB022, 22mm, gray, steel core, used in Apple/Mac ADBII mice ( same size as SMB078 - Apple just calls it a 22mm )
BMB022, 22mm, black, solid rubber, light weight , some older apple, and some generic mice.
BMB020, 20mm, black, steel core, Used in some new IBM
LMB01, 1 inch, gray, steel core, some Apple ADB that use a 3 clip retainer

These two companies mfg. most mice on the market. Even if you have a Compaq mouse, etc.- most likely it was made by Logitech.

The 2.25 fits in the older white kensington turbo and expert trackball

Others need to be measured for correct fitment.

These do not work in "newer" optical trackballs.

FAQ's

95% of computer mice use the 7/8" mouse ball. (SMB078)

The solid black mouse ball ( BMB022) can be replaced by the SMB078 mouse ball. The added weight will normally give better tracking and response.

Most Apple mice that use the 1" (LMB01) have 3 clips on the retainer ring.

Never clean inside of mouse with oils, lubricants, or solvents unless it is specially made for a computer mouse.
